“Ladali Bahna Yojana” proved to be masterstroke by sitting CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Government came with idea to “empower” women by giving them ₹1000/month, which later increased to ₹1250/month, which is being promised to be increased to ₹3000/month. Any woman of age between 23 and 60 and married, widow or divorced is eligible for this. The idea was really good, keeping in mind the inflation that amount is definitely a big amount for a poor family, and I don’t mind empowering those who really deserve, but the problem with this scheme is because of the election, they didn’t care much about the background verification of the women applying for that. They seems to saying on their site that they have rejected about 2Lac+ application, and more than 1.25Cr women are getting paid every month.

They may be right in this, but there are lot of people who are not eligible for that but are getting that amount. Ok, who are eligible for this?

• A resident of Madhya Pradesh.
• Married, including widows, divorced, and abandoned women
• For the calendar year of the application, must have completed 23 years as of January 1 and be below 60 years of age.

Who are not eligible for this

• Whose family's consolidated annual income is more than 2.5 lakh.

•Whose family has any member who is an income taxpayer.

•Whose family has any member employed by the Central or State Government in a regular/temporary/contractual capacity or is receiving a pension after retirement.

But I know a lot of people whose family income is way more than 2.5 lakh per year, whose son/daughter pays income tax, or some of them are in government service as well. Still they are getting this amount, which is not great. Government should do a better background check before making anyone applicable for scheme.
